Welcome Back everyone! It has been a wonderful break for me and my family. My kids have enjoyed after school time with me which mainly consists of pure fun. Thanks you all very much for supporting my desire to give children (yours and mine) a break from the rigorous activity of musician-hood. However, I am so excited to get back in the swing of things and have high hopes and expectations for the studio as a whole. I also have individual expectations of every student. Whether it is mastering a teter toter in the left hand or understanding counterpoint harmonies in a Bach piece, we, each and every one of us has our work cut out for us. I, for one, am not only up for it – I thrive on it. We will see you soon for another very successful semester.

As the studio matures, so do the abilities of the students. The beautiful thing about private lessons is that each child gets what each child needs from his or her teacher. I have no set method for preparing your child’s lesson plan. That being said I do worship at the shrine of Suzuki and at the core of it’s teachings is observation and listening. Listening plays an integral part in the musicianship of any student. From the tiniest twinkler to the student attacking his or her first Clementi Sonatina, we must listen to the material over and over again without exception. Before Dr. Suzuki died, he finally conceded to the world that listening is indeed more important than practicing. I agree wholeheartedly and I practice what he so eloquently preached. Never do I sit down to learn a new Chopin piece without having listened to it over and over again. Measure by measure, if need be.

Please visit Amazon and be sure to provide your student with listening material.
